How Raseed works when the internet doesn't.
Raseed is an offline-first business management system (ERP) for small and medium businesses in Pakistan, made by Softapplic. It runs on the business's own Windows computer and keeps working without internet.
Where your records live, how your phones sync without anyone else reading them, why you're never locked out, and why Raseed is fast on an old PC. The full tour in plain words, with a note for your IT person in every chapter.
Chapter 01
Working offline
In short
Raseed runs entirely on the computer in your shop, so billing, receipts, stock and reports keep working when the internet is down.
There's no server to wait for. Raseed's screen talks to Raseed's engine on the same computer; the engine keeps your records in a database on that computer and prints to your printer. The internet is needed only to activate a computer, renew its licence now and then, and sync with phones that are away from the shop.

- Inside your shop, Raseed's screen talks only to Raseed's engine on the same computer.
- The engine keeps your records in a database on that computer and prints receipts on your printer.
- Phones on your shop's Wi-Fi sync with it directly.
- Outside, the internet connects you to Softapplic's cloud, which handles activation, licences and a sealed relay.
- When the internet goes off, billing, receipts, stock, reports and in-shop collections keep working. Only syncing with phones away from the shop waits until it returns.
For your IT person
- The desktop app is Electron (UI only) with a local .NET engine that owns all business logic.
- Records are kept in SQLite (WAL mode) on the shop computer.
- Receipt printers: ESC/POS over USB, Bluetooth or LAN.
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
Chapter 02
Where your data lives
In short
Your business records are kept in a database on your own computer. Softapplic's cloud never stores readable business data.
Your agents' phones keep their own copy of what they need and sync it with the shop computer, which stays the source of truth. Our cloud keeps your account, your organization and branches, your activated devices, and your plan, licence and payments for Raseed.

Your account and your staff's sign-ins: name, mobile number, email, role. Passwords only as a scrambled hash.
- Your email
Sign-in sessions: which browser or device, its IP address, when it was last used.
Your organization and branches: name, description, business type, logo, phone, map location.
Activated computers and phones: name, type, Windows or Android and app version, time zone, when last seen, a public key that proves it's your computer, and what was done to it and by whom (activated, removed, locked).
- This computer's name
Your plan, subscription and licences: the modules you chose, when the trial ends and until when you've paid, and which computer holds each licence.
- Your plan
- Your licence
Payments for Raseed itself: amount, method (cash, bank transfer, JazzCash or Easypaisa), reference, and any extra days of grace Softapplic gives.
Sealed envelopes on their way between your devices. We can't open them.

- Your sales, invoices, customers, stock, patients' tokens and your agents' collections are saved in a database on the computer in your shop.
- Your agents' phones keep their own copy of what they need and sync it with the shop.
- Softapplic's cloud keeps only your account and your staff's sign-ins (passwords only as a hash), sign-in sessions, your organization and branches, your activated computers and phones, your plan, subscription and licence, and payments for Raseed itself.
- When your devices sync over the internet, the records travel sealed (end-to-end encrypted). Our cloud passes them along without being able to read them.
- Sales, stock and customers stored in our cloud: none.
What our cloud does
- Signs you up and keeps your account
- Activates your computers and phones
- Keeps your plan, subscription and licence
- Signs licences so your computer can check them offline
- Introduces your devices so they can connect directly
- Carries sealed envelopes when they can't
What our cloud never does
- Stores your sales, invoices or receipts
- Stores your customers, patients or subscribers
- Stores your stock or prices
- Reads the records your devices sync
- Moves your money
For your IT person
- Cloud data (PostgreSQL): accounts and sign-ins, organizations and branches, devices and their public keys, plans, subscriptions and licences, subscription payments.
- Short-lived data only in Redis.
- Phones keep their own local database.
Chapter 03
What our cloud sees
In short
When your devices sync through our cloud, each update is sealed (end-to-end encrypted) on one device and opened on another. Our cloud sees only who it's from, who it's for, its size and the time.
Most of the time your devices don't need us at all: on the same Wi-Fi they talk directly. When they can't, our cloud carries the sealed update like a courier carries an envelope.

Envelopes are only needed when your devices can't connect directly. On the same Wi-Fi, nothing passes through our cloud at all.
Read this diagram as text
- On your devices, an update is a normal record, like this Easypaisa payment Bilal collected.
- Before it leaves his phone, it is encrypted with a key only your own devices have.
- Our cloud sees who it's from, who it's for, its size and the time. Never what's inside.
- The shop computer opens it and records the payment.
For your IT person
- End-to-end-encrypted relay: the cloud forwards ciphertext with routing metadata only.
- The relay is the last rung of the connection ladder (chapter 04).
Chapter 04
Sync that can't double-count
In short
Phones and computers send each other a numbered list of what happened, so an update that arrives twice is ignored and a missing one is asked for again.
Your phones always take the shortest safe road back to the shop: the shop's Wi-Fi, a direct connection, or the sealed relay. Every change gets an ID made on the device that made it, so two phones working offline never clash.
The connection ladder
- 1Same Wi-FiStraight to the shop computer. No internet used.
- 2Direct, peer to peerOur cloud only introduces the two devices, then steps out.
- 3Sealed relayOur cloud carries sealed envelopes it can't open.
| Road | What our cloud sees |
|---|---|
| Same Wi-Fi | nothing |
| Direct | connection details only, to introduce the devices |
| Sealed relay | sealed envelopes and their address labels |
Read this diagram as text
- On the same Wi-Fi, the phone talks straight to the shop computer; our cloud sees nothing.
- In different places, they connect directly; our cloud only introduces them, so it sees connection details.
- If a network blocks that, the update is sealed on the phone and carried through our cloud, which sees only the address label.

Up to date, nothing missing
IDs are made on the phone that made the change, so two phones working offline never pick the same one.
Read this diagram as text
- Each device writes what happened to its own append-only list, numbered in order.
- Devices send these changes, not whole tables.
- If a change arrives twice, it's recognised by its ID and ignored.
- If one is missing, the shop computer notices the gap and asks for it again.
- IDs are created on the device, so phones working offline never clash.
For your IT person
- Connection ladder: the engine's LAN API on the same Wi-Fi, then WebRTC data channels (the cloud only signals), then the encrypted relay.
- Append-only operation log; applying an operation twice is harmless.
- IDs are UUIDv7, generated on the device.
- The desktop is the source of truth.
Chapter 05
Licences that work offline
In short
Your licence is signed by Softapplic and checked on your computer at every launch, so Raseed opens without internet. If your plan lapses, Raseed turns read-only with export: you're never locked out.
Raseed renews the licence quietly whenever the computer is online. Softapplic can stop a computer's licence, for example if it's stolen or the plan isn't paid: Raseed then turns read-only, and you can still open and export every record. Only the shop's owner can have a lost or stolen computer locked and wiped.
Read this diagram as text
- Activate: type the code your computer shows into the portal, and approve it
- A signed licence arrives (this needs the internet, once)
- Checked on this computer at every launch, no internet needed
- Refreshed quietly whenever you're online
- Plan lapses: read-only, with export. Never locked out.
For your IT person
- Ed25519-signed licence tokens, verified offline by the engine and renewed online; each works offline for up to 30 days.
- Each computer signs its requests with its own key, sealed to that PC; the cloud keeps only the public half.
- On expiry: read-only mode with export allowed.
Chapter 06
Security, layer by layer
In short
The app's screen has no internet access, it talks to Raseed's engine only inside your computer with a new key every launch, and your database is backed up before every upgrade.
Each layer only does its own job, so a mistake in one can't open the others.
Read this diagram as text
- The screen, the outer layer, is sandboxed: it has no internet access at all.
- The private line carries the screen's requests to the engine, inside this computer only, with a new key every launch.
- The engine keeps all the business rules, in one place.
- Your database, at the centre, is on this computer and is backed up before every upgrade.
- A request without the current launch's key gets no answer.
For your IT person
- The renderer is sandboxed with no network access; it reaches the engine only through the preload bridge.
- The engine listens on 127.0.0.1 with a per-launch token.
- A database backup is taken before every migration.
- The database and its backups are encrypted (AES-256, SQLCipher format) with a key sealed to that PC; an optional PIN keeps them closed on a laptop that never goes online.
Chapter 07
Money that adds up
In short
Amounts are stored as whole paisa, so totals never drift, and money entries are never edited: mistakes are corrected with a new reversal entry.
That gives you a full, honest history of every rupee: what was entered, what was corrected, and when.
Read this diagram as text
- Money entries are never edited.
- A mistake is corrected with a new reversal entry, and the original entry stays in the history.
- In the example, a payment of Rs 55,000 was typed wrong on Friday at 7:12 PM. It stays on the spike, unedited.
- At 7:14 PM a reversal of −Rs 55,000 cancels it, and the correct payment of Rs 5,500 goes on as a new entry.
- Amounts are kept in whole paisa: Rs 5,500 is stored as the whole number 550,000 paisa and shown as Rs 5,500, so totals never drift.
- Every entry keeps when it was made. Times are stored in UTC and shown in Pakistan time.
For your IT person
- Money is an integer number of paisa, never floating point.
- Financial entries are immutable; corrections are reversal entries.
- Stored in UTC, shown in Asia/Karachi time.
Chapter 08
Built for old PCs
In short
Raseed is built to run well on a 3rd or 4th-generation Core i3 with 4 GB of RAM and a spinning hard disk.
Your records are on the same machine as the screen, so a search is a trip of centimetres, not a trip across the country.
- Raseed: screen → engine → database, inside one computer
- A cloud-only app: screen → router → internet → a distant server, and back
Read this diagram as text
- Raseed searches the database on the same computer, so results don't wait for the internet.
- A cloud-only app sends each search to a server far away and waits for the answer.
- Raseed is designed to return search results in under 100 ms on an older PC.
| Measure | Budget on the reference PC |
|---|---|
| from switch-on to a usable screen | Under 5 s |
| to find a customer, a product or a bill | Under 100 ms |
| to save and print an invoice | Under 1 s |
| in a list that still scrolls smoothly | 10,000 rows |
| of memory while it waits | Under 450 MB |
Search 10,000 sample subscribers
10,000 subscribers
Illustration with sample data. This demo runs in your browser with made-up subscribers. Raseed searches your own records the same way, on your computer.
For your IT person
- Design budgets: cold start under 5 s, search under 100 ms, invoice save and print under 1 s, 10,000-row lists scroll smoothly, idle memory under 450 MB.
- Lists are virtualised; screens load on demand; a low-end mode turns animations off.
Chapter 09
Getting set up
In short
Sign up in the Raseed portal, build your workspace from modules, then activate each computer: it shows a code, and you type it in the portal and approve it.
Activation is the one setup step that needs the internet. After that, the computer has its signed licence and works on its own.

Build your workspace
Choose modules in the portal; Raseed adds what they depend on.
Approve in the portal
Your computer shows a code. Type it in the portal and approve it, or scan its QR code with your phone.
This step needs the internet, once.
Illustration with sample data.
